Our colour crush picks of the season include the best in beauty, skincare, hair and fragrance! In this issue, our colour crush is Flaxen. Flaxen is a pale yellowish-gray, the color of straw or unspun dressed flax. The first recorded use of flax as a colour name in English was in 1915, but "flaxen" had been used to describe hair colour in David Copperfield, by Charles Dickens in 1849.
Our colour crush picks of the season include the best in beauty, skincare, hair and fragrance! In this issue, our colour crush is Prussian. Prussian (also known as Berlin blue, Brandenbur blue, Parisian and Paris Blue). Prussian blue, an intense blue pigment, has a high tinting strength and produces a range of hues, from the palest tint to a deep blackish-blue. It is strongly coloured and tends towards black and dark blue when mixed into oil paints. The exact hue depends on the method of preparation, which dictates the particle size. Prussian blue is the characteristic pigment of Picasso’s Blue Period, it was a favourite among the painters of the Baroque and Rococo periods, and it is the colour that is produced in the cyanotype process (thus giving us the term ‘blueprint’).
