Lip Primer 101

The case for lip primer is one that we need to get off our chest and fast.  Its undeniable that there are tons of beauty videos out there, some good and some not so good and some that makes us wonder.  While its great that anyone can try to make a video we just want to point the attention of influencers to the fact that concealers and foundations do not belong on your lips? Lip primers were invented and tested to go on the lips as you end up ingesting what you put on those lips that is why lip primers were made, tested and created for this. Foundations and concealers were made for the face. Not only that, the consistency of all these products are totally different, they all do different things and serve different purposes. Let's start with concealers, these are made to be thicker in consistency to cover marks and dark circles because they are generally darker than the skin complexion being covered with foundation, while foundations tend to be lighter in texture and not as thick as a concealer and may or may not contain ingredients that are made for the eye area because they were  specifically made for the  face and just that, the face. Lip primers were made with ingredients safe and tested for the lips and eyes to help the makeup last longer and neutralize the area so the products can maintain its truest colour and shade when applied! While some might wonder why use a lip or eye primer and why not just skip it altogether, the answer is simple- If you've ever tried on a lip colour and it looks different in the lipstick tube than it looks on the lips, that is because a lip primer was needed before application to correct and neutralize the lip tone first! So there you have it. And, maybe a little lesson or two is needed as it seems all the videos being made these days are a replica of each other. One can't help but wonder why everyone  use the same technique in these videos but we will leave that for another day. So next time you influencers are considering making a makeup video- may we ask you NOT put concealers or foundations on your lips? You cant be putting concealers and foundations on your lips and expect makeup artists to take you serious. We can't!
