It seems we can't go a day without hearing of a celebrity launching a makeup line. While this may be cute, or somewhat interesting to some, it is absolutely not! We are in a world where celebrities are trend vultures, career vultures and style vultures. They know nothing about makeup but yet they are jumping on the bandwagon like they don't know makeup artistry isn't a career. May we just remind you all that this is actually a career? Though there are no rules in life, one can basically do as they want but the fact still remains, this is something for people with career in makeup artistry. If celebrities crowd the makeup market with lip kits and makeup lines and bronzers and lipstick lines then what are trained makeup artists supposed to do when they are ready to launch their makeup lines? It is one thing for celebrities to launch these so called unauthentic lines but its another for stores to give them shelve space to actually sell something they know nothing about. To top it off, these celebrities also lack creativity but the reason why is so obvious, that's because this is not their lane. While we support anybody on their quest to do whatever they want in life, the one thing we want to understand is this- what will happen to real makeup artists when they launch their lines, where will you then stock Sir John, Val Garland, Ashley Rudder, Lucia Pica etc? We can count how many celebrities jumped the wagon in the past few years and got shelve space in stores to stock something that is not even as authentic like a makeup artist created line. One can't simply deny that a Tom Ford dress is an authentic piece compared to a Victoria Beckhams dress reason being, one is a trained fashion designer and one is a celebrity no matter how you spin it. Same with a Bougiee lipstick one cannot simply compare this to a Fenty lipstick, they are just not the same as far as authenticity is concerned. One is a trained makeup artist and one is a celebrity. To think that stores even considered giving celebrity brands store space is just wrong on so many level.
